Jealous: Trailblazer of the Digital Arts

February 13, 2025

The Jealous Gallery, a fine art print studio nestled in the creative hub of Shoreditch, is making waves in the world of digital printing, screenprinting and mixed medium hybrid prints. Showcasing a plethora of stunning works, some luxuriously opulent and others quirkily edgy, Jealous has something for every art lover. It also offers a bespoke service, designing breathtaking wall murals and sourcing an eclectic variety of artists to create installations around London for clients such as Soho House and Hoxton Hotels.

Adam Bridgland the print studio manager, who has worked at Jealous for twelve years, is also a talented artist. His exhibition, coming to the gallery from 7th to 24th October, and entitled ‘Time Spent Together in Your Head’, is said to be an ‘inclusive and often witty exploration of distinctively British sentiments.’ Adam’s work creates a warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia, evoking vignettes from childhood seaside holidays and colouring books. One of his prints broadcasts the words: “Every morning I’ve got a new chance.” Where this could be dismissed as trite, its relevance to the times we’re in gives it a heartbreakingly beautiful quality. The words, set against an abstract background rich in primary colours and children’s scrawlings, highlight the sophistication of children. In every scribble, there is a memory or a nuance… Another piece is a geometrically perfect dartboard, or a concentric spectrum, with a heart at its bullseye. Jumping out are the adorable words, heard by many of us during our childhoods or parenthoods: “My favourite colour is rainbow.” Bridgland cleverly projects icons from the mundane. There’s a satisfying element of kitsch too, for example in his pieces that involve old public transport posters.

Jealous also offers a specialist curation service, collaborating with many cutting-edge, contemporary street artists. The recent Jealous exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, ‘Right Here, Right Now’, was a huge success. The exhibition’s highlights were Chris Levine’s large-scale never-before-seen ‘Lightness of Being’, and the striking Kate Moss portrait ‘Stillness to A Portal To The Divine.’

The Saatchi Gallery’s team have themselves given the ultimate accolade: ‘Jealous has built an international reputation for championing new art and for never standing still.’

Jealous Gallery is at 53 Curtain Road, EC2
