Many a lazy Sunday afternoon can be spent wondering around London Fields Market. Open from 10am-2pm, and taking over the schoolyard of London Fields Primary School on Westgate Street, it is one of the most popular farmers’ markets in Shoreditch. High quality seasonal fruit and vegetables, organic chocolates and locally caught fish are some of the highlights. It’s loved by families. Adults can take part in a yoga class or enjoy some live music while the children are treated to their own special entertainment.
Boxpark, on Bethnal Green Road, is the first pop-up mall in the world. Created from re-purposed shipping containers, it is home to a glorious market. Never will you see such an eclectic mix of stalls, selling everything from modern street food to local and worldwide brands in fashion and lifestyle. Boxpark is a unique and buzzing shopping destination.
Dinerama on Great Eastern Street is vibrant, and the atmosphere is exhilarating. Mouth-watering dishes are served up amidst bars selling craft cans and festival-sized cocktails. Indulge your tastebuds all night at this iconic Shoreditch street food arena. Sample its famous jerk chicken or spicy steamed dumplings and sip some hot wine, while the talented resident DJ’s provide the soundtrack for this fun experience. Dinerama is open Wednesday – Friday, 5pm – 12am and Saturday, 4pm-12.30am.
Hoxton Square Market on Hoxton Street, established as early as 1687, remains a firm favourite amongst Shoreditch’s hipster foodies. Hackney’s oldest street market is the most delightful place for people-watching. There are plenty of enticing stalls selling quirky hand-crafted goods, beautifully fresh fruit and vegetables, and innovative street snacks. It’s open Monday-Friday, 10.30am-4pm (for street food) and Saturday, 9am–4pm (general market).
