Proper Office began with two friends and a shared belief that businesses deserved better workspaces.
In the early 2000s, while working on the transformation of an office building in Putney, they recognised an opportunity. Many businesses were looking for professional office space but often found themselves choosing between long, inflexible leases and large serviced office operators that felt impersonal and corporate.
What started as a single building project soon evolved into a much bigger idea: creating workspaces where businesses could feel supported, valued and genuinely at home.
That vision led to the development of our first Shoreditch building at 64 Great Eastern Street. Rather than simply providing offices, the goal was to create an environment where businesses could grow, collaborate and feel confident that they had a team behind them whenever support was needed.
As the business grew, so did the portfolio. Additional buildings were carefully developed and improved, always with the same philosophy in mind: provide high-quality workspace, exceptional service and a personal approach that puts people first.
We saw an opportunity to create something different. Businesses needed flexibility, but they also wanted professionalism, reliability and a workspace they could be proud of. We believed office space should be more than desks and walls. It should be a place where people enjoy working and where businesses feel supported.
From the beginning, Proper Office has never tried to be the biggest workspace provider. Instead, we have focused on building long-term relationships with our tenants, maintaining high standards across our buildings and delivering a level of care and attention that larger operators often struggle to provide.
